  • Ottawa Loves Local Administration: Payouts come on/before the 15th of the month following the sales. If you sell something on September 12th, the payout for that sale (and any others received throughout the month of September) on/before October 15th.

  • Ottawa Loves Local Administration: Congratulations - that means sales are going well! Go back to the purchase order form, and submit a NEW purchase order form to take more inventory into the store. Please do not forget to wait until your purchase order has been processed and your barcodes have been printed before heading to the store to restock!

  • Ottawa Loves Local Administration: If purchase orders are submitted correctly, into the proper folder, they are processed typically within 24-48 hours. Then the processed purchase order goes to the store to have barcodes printed (if applicable). Please remember to not physically go to the store to restock until you have received the message from the store that your barcodes are printed!

  • Ottawa Loves Local Administration: Our stores have busy periods, especially during the Christmas season. It is difficult to have staff working with vendors if there are a number of customers in the store. Also, when changing up your own display, you may be preventing customers from seeing not only your items, but those of the vendor(s) around you.

  • Anytime you wish to expand your pace in a location, simply email Kathy (ottawaloveslocal@gmail.com). If we have space available, or coming available at the end of that invoice period, we can easily make the change to your space and your invoice.

  • Our administrative team and our store staff are great resources! Store staff might have suggestions on how to change your display or packaging to attract attention.

  • The retail environment, unfortunately, is not for everyone. If you find that you need to leave the stores, please send an email to Kathy (ottawaloveslocal@gmail.com) with at least 14 days notice. Your inventory will remain in the store for those 14 days, and you can pick them up at the end of that time.

  • Unfortunately not. If you remove your items from the store, and wish to return to the stores at a later time, it is based on availability at that time. As Christmas is our busiest season, the stores typically remain full prior to, and during, that time.

  • Products in a retail environment are typically priced slightly higher than products found at a market, online site or event. Make sure to keep the shelf fee and commission in mind when creating and pricing your products.

  • You certainly can offer a sale on one (or more) of your products. Please send an email to the Administration team (oll.purchaseorders@gmail.com) and let them know the Item Name, SKU of the product, original price, and what discount/sale you would like to offer (15% off, Buy one/Get one free etc...), how long you would like the sale to last, and it can be processed for you.

  • The costs associated with operating a retail location are quite extensive. Our shelf fees provide a stationary income each month, and the commission on sales is variable. Both are important to ensure the longevity of a consignment-model store where 65% of sales return to the vendors each month.

  • Ottawa Loves Local Administration: Each vendor's experience is quite different from the next. Some people create items that seem to be "in" at a given time, others create items that are "necessary" at all times (consumables - food, bath & body products), and others create items that seem to be geared more towards gift-giving. All of these factors play a part in how well a particular vendor will do in a store.

Our stores have many repeat customers who enjoy the fact that there is a little bit of change at any given location. Vendors change their products for the seasons, new vendors enter the stores, staff create new window displays etc... It can sometimes take a couple of months before a new vendor can see how their product is being received and what the demographic is like at a certain location. Feel free to ask for help from store staff and/or Ottawa Loves Local Administration (ottawaloveslocal@gmail.com), if you would like some suggestions about products/display/packaging.
